Although becoming a mother is a great thing, it can often feel like a never-ending blur of activity. The never-ending chores, from nighttime rituals to morning procedures, can easily overwhelm one. But even on the busiest days, there is a way to find serenity in the middle of all this chaos—a way to focus on God.
Prayer is not something we just do in private, peaceful times. It’s a way of life, a constant dialogue with God that can give you courage and serenity all day long.
Here are a few ways you can pray through the chaos:
- Short, Deliberate Prayers: When you don’t have time for a lengthy prayer session, don’t panic! You may pray in short, deliberate moments. While you’re cleaning the dishes, folding laundry, or even walking to the car, take a few seconds to thank God, ask for His help, or pray for your children.
- Pray for Your Kids: One of the best things a mother can do for her kids is to teach them to pray. Offer up prayers for them, asking God to keep them safe, lead them, and help them become the individuals He intended them to be. You should always do this, even when they seem to be driving you crazy.
- Create Quiet Moments: Set aside brief intervals during the day to escape the bustle and reestablish a spiritual connection with God. It might be as easy as taking a quick stroll outside or using the restroom for a few minutes. You can rejuvenate your soul during these times of isolation.
- Establish a Prayer Routine for the Family: Prayer can be a lovely family custom. Engaging your kids in prayer, whether it is before meals, before bed, or simply a little morning prayer, helps in building their own relationship with God.
Keep in mind that having a spotless routine or a flawlessly ordered home does not equate to peace. It results from God’s presence in the middle of our daily activities.
